Jorge Martín: “These days I will enjoy more than Bagnaia”

“Surely this weekend I will enjoy much more than Pecco (Bagnaia). Cheste is a circuit that I love and it allows me to go fast. Going from behind is the easiest job (…) In your situation it is not easy to go fast, because you can lose a lot,” Jorge Martín (25) said this Thursday.

The Ducati rider arrives at the Valencia GP, the outcome of the MotoGP world title, 21 points behind the leader, the Italian Bagnaia. With 37 points at stake, the challenge is complicated, and it also catches Martín on the wrong foot, upset as he is by his disappointment in the Qatar GP, hampered by a defective rear tire, a setback that caused him to finish tenth.

“Accepting that I will probably finish second this year has helped me be happy with what I have, although nothing should be taken for granted until the end. I will try to win both races and the championship. If I won, it would be a gift,” he said.

“Martín's setback gives me a little leeway, but it's not enough to rest on my laurels,” said Bagnaia. And of course, I'm not going to change my strategy. I will work hard from Friday practice and try to win both races this weekend. I hope that the experience of the year will help me to manage the situation.”
