At gunpoint four men kidnapped, assaulted and robbed Gianluigui Donnarumma and his partner at their home in Paris. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. this Friday and is one more in the long list of attacks on the homes of the Paris Saint-Germain footballers.
The group of men tied the couple up inside their apartment on avenue Montaigne, an upmarket neighborhood in the 8th arrondissement of the French capital. They took watches, jewelry and leather goods (all valued at approximately half a million euros) and then escaped from the place, according to police reports collected by AFP.
In addition, the Italian goalkeeper was "slightly injured", while his girlfriend did not suffer any physical attack, according to evaluations at the hospital, although not many details were provided. Both were transferred in a "state of shock" to the medical center after taking refuge in a hotel near their home when the assailants left
Donnarumma was to travel this Saturday to Japan along with the entire PSG squad, where they will carry out their preseason, but it will be waiting to see if the goalkeeper will be able to leave with all his teammates. AFP tried to find the version of the footballer's media agent, but he refused to comment on the matter.
This is not the first time that a PSG player's home has been attacked in recent years. In fact, it is already the tenth time since 2018 that striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting suffered two different robberies, along with then-captain Thiago Silva who was also a victim that same year.
In 2019 it happened with the home of Dani Alves, and in 2021 with Marquinhos, Ángel Di María, Mauro Icardi and Sergio Rico, and finally in 2022 Presnel Kimpembe was a victim. Given this, the capital team reinforced security in the residences of its soccer players to respond to the wave of violence. So far several people have already been sentenced to prison for the robberies of Kimpembe, Di María and Marquinhos.
At the moment, Paris Saint-Germain has not ruled on the matter, but it will be waiting to see what actions the French club now takes in the face of this wave of violence against its players.
