Djokovic: "I don't need Alcaraz or anyone to be motivated"

The Serbian Novak Djokovic, who is looking for his eighth title at Wimbledon, assured that he does not need Carlos Alcaraz or any other tennis player to be there to find "extra motivation" when it comes to playing Grand Slams.

The winner of 23 'majors' was full of praise for Alcaraz, whom he described as "a great boy" who has made history at a very young age. The Murcian will arrive at Wimbledon as number one after winning his first tournament on grass at Queen's last week.

"I think he's handling it very well and that he's very mature for a 20-year-old. He's making history at a very young age. It's good for the sport that there's a player who brings so much intensity, energy and is also humble and has a great personality. off the track," Djokovic explained at a press conference.

"For someone his age, everything he is doing is impressive. He has Juan Carlos Ferrero, a former number one, who can guide him and help him. They are working very well as a team," he added.

Asked if the appearance of these players gives him extra motivation, Djokovic said no, because he already knows that to win a title he has to play seven games, whoever is in front.

"Whoever is on the other side of the net, it doesn't make me much different. I have to do what I know I have to do. My attention is focused on my body and my mind, on my game, trying to be in the best shape possible for each party".
