Who will sing to you and all the other things

The abandonment of one of the most important conquests of the bourgeois cultural universe – the establishment of an impenetrable veil between public and private conduct – we cannot consider it a defeat of the contemporary world, as we could apply to some labor rights or social, but it has been a voluntary surrender: we removed blinds and curtains and let the lit rooms of our houses be visible. In the digital sense, we have done this with the exception of offering windows by choosing the angle and the scene. We are costume artists of our own biography, with all the frankness and imposture.

On the weekend of the death and resurrection of the Messiah, the viral Instagram photo was one of those stolen poses that offer a perfectly measured plot of intimacy and want to give very specific information but end up giving it away another: minister Irene Montero sitting listening to ex-vice president Pablo Iglesias, guitar playing. As almost always, the accessory ends up hiding the obvious, and the photo went viral on Instagram and other social networks – especially the one of scandalized squeals and moral lessons: Twitter – for a few pixels at the bottom left of the frame, on the table, which could have been a streak of cocaine but was much more likely the pendant from the zipper of a handbag (unless the cocaine has been pelleted lately) .

Of course, the heretical hammer of Catholic morality – which in these lands is wielded by Catholics, agnostics and atheists with equal enthusiasm – was launched to condemn the use of recreational drugs by two public figures – well despite the fact that the political formation to which they both belong is in favor of the legalization of narcotics -, without having made the consequent checks on the handful of pixels, a fact-checking that, as usually happens, the tweeters carried out to conclude that, in effect, it seems more like a necessary preparation than a promise of happiness in the Colombian way.

But distracted by the accessory we did not pay attention to the patent, which ratifies two certainties: the divorces, separations and liquidations of real estate assets attributed to the couple in the last five years were balls that were part of the relentless personal harassment that they have suffered by Montero and Iglesias, and that the cultural universe of the left they embody is closer to the parents who listened to Silvio and Krahe than to the children who memorize romances by Bad Bunny and Quevedo (the enemy of Góngora, no, The other). As if between one thing and another – between the Cold War and the invasion of Ukraine – there hadn't been a Bunbury from the end of history to throw itself in the face. As if between "la era está pariendo un corazón" and "las noches sin ti duelen" there had not been gusts of history: "If you can't go worse, have an last effort, wait for the wind to blow in your favor" .
