Theatre, music and dance take to the roofs

If you are attracted to one of the shows that we explain below, hurry up to buy tickets, because the line-up is powerful and the capacity is limited, quite limited, between 60 and 90 spectators. Let's talk about the Terrats en Cultura festival, which reaches its twelfth edition, programming shows by the Roseland dance company, a theater piece by Gerard Vázquez, another by Denise Duncan or a dialogue about flamenco between Juan Carlos Lérida and Niño de Elche on the 28 of June, entitled El monte de los Olivos... And so up to fifteen acts.

The operation is easy: on the website you can now check the day and time of each show, in addition to the neighborhood of Barcelona or l'Hospitalet de Llobregat where you can see it. You will not know the exact address where it will be held until 48 hours before. They are often the roofs of neighbours' houses, private estates that open exceptionally to offer one of the festival's shows.

Some rooftops repeat, but most are new locations. The organization misses the fact that, for example, the performance of L'enterrador, by Gerard Vázquez, in which Pepe Zapata interprets the story of Paterna's undertaker during the Civil War, pure historical memory, "will take place at Poblenou on June 13, in a building closely related to a cemetery". Two and two make four.

This edition gathers 15 shows, 10 performing arts and 5 music, and the capacity never exceeds a hundred people, "so as not to lose the essence and the unique experience of a day, even though some shows are two days ago", explain the managers of the Coincidences organization, Lola Armadàs and Anna Piferrer. This edition already opened with two shows in April in l'Hospitalet, coinciding with the Spring Festival: the music of Rodríguez Trio and the performance Mare, by Élida Kucena and Nick June.

Terrats en Cultura resumes on June 1 with the dance of Jo soc d'aquí, by Roseland. "The piece talks about coexistence and the current reality of our society, and the whole story takes place inside an island in the Eixample", explain the members of the company.

On June 15, in La bellessa del diable, Pol Forment vindicates the work of his father, Josep, who translated the complete works of Rimbaud and who repeated that it was necessary to know him for his work and not for his life. "The idea is that the public attends a meeting beyond time and space invoking the spirits of the translator and the poet". The text is by Pablo Ley and the music by Jorge de la Torre.

On June 29, Núria Perpinyà's poetry will arrive with Changing Heavens. On July 13, in Deix, the dance of Quim Bigas will be paired with DO Catalunya wines. On July 25, Kathy Sey will play Tituba. Witch, Black and Whore, a text by Denise Duncan about a real character in Salem. And on July 26, stand-up artist Andrés Faingold makes an appearance.

The music will be provided by Anaïs Vila (14/VI), the Valencian fusion of Tacho (12/VII), Núria Duran (18/VII) and the Catalan rumba of Muchacho (19/VII). Terrats en Cultura will close on July 27 with the musical Guido's Women, in which Mariona Castillo plays all the roles, with the pianist Gustavo Llull. "We are excited because we will be able to put a piano on the roof", conclude the managers.
