The Valencian Council and the Government display the LGTBI flag after the PP and Vox pact

The government pact between PP and Vox in the Valencian Community continues to mark the post-electoral and pre-electoral political agenda, with the 23-J elections one month away. Within the framework of the celebration of Gay Pride Day (this Saturday there will be a large demonstration in Valencia) and after municipal agreements such as the one reached in Nàquera -which prohibits the display of LGTBI flags in municipal buildings-, the Valencian Council and the Government They have responded in a symbolic way showing their support for this group.

This Thursday the vice president and spokesperson for the Consell, Aitana Mas, reported that the plenary session had approved an institutional declaration on the occasion of International LGTBI Pride Day in which she warned that "trying to cut" the rights of this group "is not admissible". . The text shows the "conviction that the majority will of Valencian society is not only to maintain the degree of respect for human rights and specifically the rights of LGTBI people achieved over the years, but also to consolidate them and advance on pending issues ”.

In the press conference after the weekly meeting of the regional government, Mas pointed out, as stated in the institutional declaration, that the Valencian Community "must continue to be a land of rights, respect and equality".

At the same time, the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has displayed the LGTBI flag on the façade of the Government Delegation headquarters on Thursday to celebrate Pride Day. "Today, more than ever, the Government of Spain claims the diversity of Spanish and Valencian society," Bernabé defended in a statement.

These actions and pronouncements are not liking the PP. It must be remembered that the plenary session of the Consell already approved last week another institutional declaration against gender violence.

In a statement, the PPCV campaign manager, Miguel Barrachina, has asked that Puig "should stop using the Consell and its press conferences to contaminate the 23J electoral campaign."

In this sense, the PP has filed a complaint with the Provincial Electoral Board of Valencia for the use by the Consell of the press conference after the plenary session to attack the political formations that signed the agreement for a new government of the Generalitat. Barrachina has affirmed that "the PSPV and Compromís must cease their sectarian and partisan attitude now because it is illegal to use the Consell and its press conferences for their electoral campaign."

However, Mas has already made it clear that "even in office, the Government is not going to look the other way when it comes to defending and protecting victims of sexist violence." In fact, the acting vice president has indicated that the Consell has presented allegations after the PP's complaint.
