The Valencian socialists have launched a microcredit initiative to raise funds and finance the electoral campaign of the next 28M in order to "leave dependence on financial institutions". The PSPV, explained yesterday its organization secretary, José Muñoz, contemplates the possibility of citizen contributions of a minimum of 200 euros and a maximum of 10,000 euros, which will be returned once the elections on May 28 have passed and for a maximum period of 12 months. The objective, Muñoz admitted, is to achieve the not inconsiderable figure of 300,000 euros that would later be returned with the money from the subsidies that the party receives for votes and seats.
The person in charge of Organization justified this formula by ensuring that the financing of political parties in the face of an electoral campaign "is transparent, is public knowledge and that citizens can participate" in it. This initiative of microcredits for financing is open to the contribution of the militants, "and all those who wish to collaborate."
This way of financing campaigns has been typical of Podemos since its inception. In fact, as La Vanguardia has learned, for the regional and municipal elections of 2023, Podem has already raised almost 90,000 euros in the Valencian Community.
