The modifications that Esquerra and JxCat demand in the Amnesty law

The main headache for Esquerra and Junts for today's plenary session of the Congress of Deputies, in which the Amnesty law is expected to be approved, is to ensure that all those investigated for terrorism are protected. The defendants in the Democratic Tsunami case and the twelve members of the Committees for the Defense of the Republic (CDR) are in the eye of the hurricane, the latter pending trial.

Thus, up to four amendments that refuse to include the term terrorism in the exclusions of the amnesty are still alive: one from ERC, another from Junts and two more that the post-convergents agreed to, on the one hand, with the Republicans, and on the other, with the PNV. The latter, according to Carles Puigdemont's training, is the most complete and would also protect those investigated in the Voloh case.

The decision of ERC and JxCat at the Justice commission meeting was to maintain the amendments that the PSOE did not accept so that they could be voted on in plenary. Beyond those referring to the chapter on exclusions, the one that attracts the most attention, there are other relevant issues, such as an amendment that extends the period of application of the amnesty until November 2011. In this way, the accounting cases of the Court of Auditors They would be completely included in criminal oblivion, since in the supervisory body the cases cover a longer period than in the courts.

Another Junts amendment tries to shield the cases crossed out by the formation of lawfare. This aspires to include in the amnesty cases that "as a function of artificial and/or prospective police operations aimed at the criminalization of public positions and/or their environment, as long as they have not effectively led to an increase in assets of illicit origin."

For its part, ERC retains another significant amendment. It proposes that the fines paid for the imposition of sanctions under the Protection of Citizen Security law, the gag law, be restored.

However, for any of these amendments to be approved, the endorsement and participation of the PSOE and the rest of its allies is necessary.
