Sánchez exhibits economic data and pensions against the "noise" of the right

Faced with the "noise" of the opposition and the "shamans" of the right, the president of the central government, Pedro Sánchez, boasted yesterday in his lightning visit to Catalonia of "social peace", the pension reform " agreements with Europe" that Congress approved last week and the economic data they have in Moncloa in the final stretch of a legislature unexpectedly marked first by the covid pandemic and then by the war in Ukraine and the rise in prices.

The head of the Central Executive, just arrived from his trip to China, exhibited in his intervention during the closing of the municipal convention of the PSC, in the convention center La Farga in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat in front of about 3,000 people -according to the organizers-, the economic figures in matters such as employment, inflation, energy prices and growth forecasts. "Is it possible to overcome a pandemic and grow and create jobs in the midst of war? Is it possible to reduce inflation and at the same time square the accounts of the State? Is it possible to carry out a labor and pension reform and preserve social peace?", asked Sánchez and right after remarking that "yes it is possible" and that this is the picture of "Spain today".

"More and better jobs, pensions go up and we guarantee those of the future, we have the lowest inflation and the cheapest energy in Europe, the deficit is reduced and we have social peace", continued the president, who at that time moment he alluded to the PP and Vox. "Not all the noise in the world can hide the reality. Even if they use shamans and telepredicators", ironically Sánchez, who, despite this, believes that "there is a lot left to do".

For this reason, in the municipal and regional elections of May 28, a taste of the general elections at the end of the year, he made a call to "choose between governments that focus on a privileged minority or governments that think of the social majority" . Even so, he avoided making references to the founding event of Sumar that was held at the same time at the Magariños sports center in Madrid and to the candidacy of Yolanda Díaz, second vice-president of its Executive.

On the situation of Laura Borràs, the President of the Government, which could have an impact on a partial pardon after her conviction, did not say anything either. But as usual, the PSOE general secretary also contrasted the situation in Catalonia now and the one that existed during Mariano Rajoy's governments, coinciding with the peak moments of the process.

Thus, the President of the Central Government assured that the "irresponsibility" of independence and the "territorial confrontation" of the PP caused a "tear" in a Catalonia that now "wants coexistence", something that, in his opinion , represents the PSC of Salvador Illa. "The irresponsibility of the independence movement led Catalan society to an impossible situation", he pointed out. "But also the incapacity and connivance of national politics led by the right, which saw grievance and territorial confrontation as a way to win votes in other parts of the country", he continued.

For her part, the mayoress of the city and president of the Diputació de Barcelona, Núria Marín, served as hostess with a speech that pointed the finger at the Government of Pere Aragonès for issues such as occupations , the residences or the drought.

"In terms of security, we need more Mossos d'Esquadra", pointed out the socialist leader. "I would like councilor Joan Ignasi Elena to ask himself a question: how is it possible that more than half of the jobs in Spain are in Catalonia? It must be because your ministry is not making the policy it needs in Catalonia? Is your ministry closer to the CUP than the citizens think?", questioned Marín, who also accused the Generalitat of the sanctions on the councils of the drought decree. "We need a Government that puts Catalonia on the road and sees the municipalities as allies and does not blame us for their mistakes and lack of management", remarked Marín. "They only look at the municipalities to impose sanctions, we are seeing it with the drought. This is not how Catalonia is governed", he concluded.

In turn, the head of the opposition in Parliament, Illa, addressed the leader of Junts, Laura Borràs, and pointed out to her that "there are no excuses when it comes to corruption", after her recent sentence at the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia. "His case is not about defending everyone's ideas. Their case goes to those who use the institutions for their own benefit instead of using them to improve the common good", asserted the head of the Catalan Socialists. "It is enough to discredit the institutions; it's enough to believe yourself above everything and everyone, it's enough not to assume the consequences of your own actions", he finished. Regarding the drought, Illa described it as "a serious mistake not to count on the councils".

The socialist candidate for the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, put the trigger on the mayor of the Catalan capital and the candidate leading the polls, Junts per Catalunya. "Xavier Trias and Ada Colau are the two sides of the same coin, the coins of the past and those who already had their chance", stated Collboni.
