Slap in Giró, warning in Trias

There was a time when Catalonia expressed itself in Madrid through Roca Junyent. Today, he does it – a way of speaking – through Míriam Nogueras, spokesperson for Junts al Congrés, whose main merit is to say amen to the master.

And then we'll be surprised that politics doesn't attract talent...

Jaume Giró had the temerity to aspire to the position of Nogueras on Monday and to believe that "independenceists are not afraid of the polls". On Friday, his tail between his legs, he resigned from the primaries. By now, by the way, some friend should advise him to review his companies: he left Laporta's troupe six days after winning the elections; he had to leave Economics - in the final stretch of his budgets! - due to the decision of the chicken sector - the mess for the mess - and now he has been humiliated by Carles Puigdemont, to whom has folded without complaining (Peronism spends them like this, some ruined Argentina, others are content to impoverish Catalonia). When José Tomás nails his sneakers, the last thing he does when he sees the bull is run away...

That Míriam Nogueras can continue to be the spokesperson for Junts in Madrid is painful but understandable (independence is the great social elevator in Catalonia for the less talented). The drama is Barcelona. Will its potential mayor, Xavier Trias, resist the events of Waterloo, incompatible with looking forward and the spirit of his conciliatory campaign?

The Giró anecdote does not invite optimism, a state of mind that suits Barcelona so well. Xavier Trias distanced himself from Waterloo in the campaign. And of the stars or the yellow ribbons. He presented himself with his initials – not those of the party – and even claimed the converging soul. And the people of Barcelona bought him a binding pact.

On the same election night, the cover-ups appeared, those who had ruined his campaign 24 hours earlier. The Turulls, Borràs, Nogueras... They physically overwhelmed Trias, who didn't even mention Puigdemont or "independence" that night. Maybe that's why they were there, to remind Xavier Trias who is in charge and how they spend them in the Peronist movement.
