Saint Valentine with the pet

I confess that it hadn't crossed my mind. That's why, when I received a press release this week that said: 'Pets, the great love of the Spanish on Valentine's Day', I had to read it twice. I envisioned writing a pink glitter heart-shaped postcard with a message like, "Everyone loves the perfect match, but my dog can't be everyone's match." But I don't have a dog. So I opted for another phrase that I found by googling, like the previous one: "Sometimes I would like to celebrate Valentine's Day, then I remember that I have a cat, and it happens to me."

I continued to entertain myself on the internet and it turns out that there are even surveys, such as not carried out in the United States, which assure that with a greater or lesser percentage, there are humans with pets who prefer to celebrate Valentine's Day with them rather than with a couple I punctuate in case there are doubts: before with a human partner.

This holy Google that does not yet have a date on the calendar, unfolds on my screen an avalanche of pages with ideas on how to spend Valentine's Day with a canine or feline companion. In this sense, it is necessary to denounce certain discrimination against cats.

Some examples beyond choosing a new toy for his collection, which would be unoriginal: treat him to a spa with an ozone session ideal for regenerating his skin, hire a specialist photographer to immortalize his expressions more tenders, buy a dress together with a sweatshirt for the human, order a healthy cake with local products in the shape of a heart and the color of passion, organize a romantic dinner in a dog-friendly restaurant or even spend a week together in a pet friendly hotel. And for those who don't want to leave the house, and that's where the cats come in, there's always the romantic session in front of the TV with a blanket and a movie chosen for the occasion, such as Always by your side, Hachiko or Una canine mind, depending on whether you want to cry or laugh. This would be the least consumerist option of all.

Finally, I rule out leaving my cats a postcard with my love message under the squishy dresser where they should be sleeping instead of on my bed. And he hadn't fallen there. I haven't taught them to read yet!
