Now that we are in an election campaign (if we ever stopped being), we should remember the screenwriters who arm the arguments for the candidates who have a huge responsibility with what they say. A wrong or offensive approach designed for the short run of the political campaign can have unwanted consequences. It's like throwing a pebble at the top of a snowy mountain and on its way to the valley it turns into a giant snowball that drags everything in its path, including the unwary candidate.
This comes in the face of the regrettable electoral poster that called for the removal of Alzheimer's patients from Barcelona and that was illustrated with the photos of the brothers Pasqual and Ernest Maragall. The first was one of the best mayors of Barcelona, as well as president of the Generalitat, and he has this pathology like 800,000 other people throughout Spain. At the beginning of the disease he created a foundation that fights to get a treatment that cures this condition. His brother Ernest has accompanied him throughout his political career and is now running again as mayor of Barcelona. Pasqual and Ernest turned 82 and 80 respectively in January. Precisely age has been used and is used as a disqualifier for candidates such as Ernest Maragall or Xavier Trias (76 years old) by some parties. They don't dare to say it in public speeches, but they spread it among their ranks with disdain so that the idea spreads that, based on their short intelligence, the elderly are incapable of governing the city. This is the stone that was thrown a few months ago when it was announced that Maragall and Trias were running for mayor and the vomitous poster is the snowball that has hit the street with the condemnation of the citizens.
They forget these weak minds who, with their insidiousness, not only insult sick people and their relatives but also make fun of their own parents, uncles and grandparents who are lucky enough to enjoy a full life at over 70 or 80 years.
We do not know in which headquarters the ideologues of such a disgusting poster are hiding. Although I'm afraid they're such cowards they'll never come forward. I hope that the troglodyte cave where these stinking potions are brewed does not belong to any of the new formations that rise up as crusaders against the old policy. If that were the case, we would be facing the most palpable proof that the retrograde wolf wears the disguise of a tender lamb that flags a false modernity. Barcelona does not deserve to have among its aspirants to govern the city politicians or parties that swim in the filth of lies, insults and ignominy. Hopefully they will be unmasked. This would say a lot in favor of our old democracy, because then they would receive the repulsion where it hurts the most, which is at the ballot box, and they could return to the darkness of the sewers from which they should never have come out.
