More Madrid Alcobendas criticizes the closure of a cemetery for several days due to lack of personnel

The Más Madrid group in Alcobendas has denounced this Tuesday that the city government (PP) has “abandoned” the municipal cemetery of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, which is in the urbanization district and suffers from a lack of personnel that, according to , has forced the cemetery to be closed for some days since the summer.

The entity assures that one of the three cemetery workers retired before the summer without the City Council having replaced him for the moment, which is why it has remained closed for up to three days due to lack of personnel.

They add that the retirement occurred in January, but the selective processes that created a hiring pool were not completed until June, but still the City Council "has not hired any workers, and neglects and abandons this municipal cemetery."

More Madrid fears that this situation will be repeated on "marked dates", such as All Saints' Day or Christmas, which is why they criticize the "incredible lack of sensitivity towards families" who on some occasions have found that they cannot access the cemetery.

And they warn that, if someone is not hired “soon,” the center will have to close other days or reduce hours, because the workers “cannot do more overtime” and they are the ones who open the doors of the cemetery, in addition to taking care of also maintenance, gardening or burials.

From Más Madrid they fear that there are "hidden intentions" on the part of the Consistory, such as an attempt to "privatize the cemetery or leave it abandoned so that the neighbors bet on the other one that exists that is privately managed", while the City Council at the moment does not has responded to this complaint.
