In the 20th century, Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion and the musical version My fair lady revitalized the classical myth of the modeling of beauty. Now, at the Versus Glòries theater, a small-format version, Tot assajant Pigmalió, is back, starring Lloll Bertran, the florist from La Rambla, and Manel Barceló, the teacher, produced by Anexa. The actress already starred in the version of Dagoll Dagom in Poliorama in 1997.

The dramaturgy is written by Marc Rosich, who directed it with Jordi Andújar. Rosich starts from Joan Oliver's excellent Catalan version of the work and, including Pere Quart's monosyllable poem, pays double tribute to the writer from Sabadell.

"In Tot assajant Pygmalion we see a couple preparing the play - explains the playwright-. The two of them play all the roles of the auca. Basically, it's an exercise in nostalgia where two actors, with their experience, set My fair lady in motion." The result mixes Oliver's translation of My fair lady and Rosich's contributions. "And we do some songs, with historical translations by Escamilla or Núria Feliu".

The artistic team considers that the work is also a vindication of the richness of the Catalan language. “When Oliver translated it, times were dark. Today they are again, but a path and resilience has been made", concludes the playwright.
