Lambán rules out leading the opposition in the Aragonese Cortes

The acting president of Aragon, Javier Lambán, confirmed that he will not lead the opposition in Parliament to the popular Jorge Azcón, the clear winner in the last regional elections, due to "democratic hygiene". Even so, the socialist will continue for now on the political front line by maintaining the leadership of the PSOE-Aragón until his next congress, set for the year 2025.

In a meeting with the media on Tuesday, Lambán did not clarify whether he will finally collect his deputy act in the Aragonese Cortes on June 23, and he did not rule out the possibility of becoming a senator by autonomous designation. "My minutes will be put to good use," he assured after insisting that "it is not right or proper" to lead the opposition in these circumstances.

After the painful defeat in the elections on May 28, Lambán gave a speech that same night with marked farewell overtones. However, as has happened in other communities, the unexpected call for general elections by Pedro Sánchez changed his plans after his closest circle asked him to remain in charge of the party in the community.

Facing his future succession, he pointed out that there are "ten or twelve people" who could take over and warned that it will be used "in depth" so that the future leadership of the party emanates from Aragon without any type of interference or imposition from Ferraz. . “Remote-controlled inheritances don't work. The PSOE-Aragon cannot have a general secretary imposed from Madrid”, he stated.

In many pools, the name of Pilar Alegría, current Minister of Education and spokesperson for the national PSOE, emerges, both to go number 1 for Zaragoza in the lists for the generals and to lead the party in Aragon in the future. Lambán, who ruled out referring to the lists for the 23-J general elections, denied having personal problems with her, although he does not believe that he arouses enough sympathy in the territory.

The socialist also took advantage of the meeting to charge against Azcón, whom he believes is "nothing without Vox", since Santiago Abascal's party is his "life insurance" although "he is ashamed of them."

Likewise, he rejected the “little games” of the popular with the Aragonese Party (PAR) and Teruel Existe to “whiten” his dependence on the ultra-right, to which the popular have asked to abstain from the investiture as a way to lead a government alone.

Along these lines, Lambán lamented the "worrying drift" of the PP because, in his opinion, "it is not concerned about stability", but rather its "unhealthy obsession" with coming to power.

The still president also said that he has already commissioned his advisers to prepare an exhaustive report on the state of the departments to facilitate the transition with total formality. He thus responded to the words expressed on Monday by Azcón in the corridors of the Parliament, which accused him of "democratic rebellion" while demanding that the transfer of powers begin.

Finally, Lambán stressed that his party intends to jointly negotiate governance in the town halls, the Provincial Council of Teruel -where it could add a majority with Teruel Existe and the PAR- and in the regions, and was open "absolutely to everything", including the transfer of the presidency of the DPT to the formation led by Tomás Guitarte.
