'La Idealista' enters the campaign hand in hand with Podemos

Podemos has deployed an electoral canvas in a building in Madrid in which it plays to equate its candidate for the Community with one of the most successful real estate portals in the country. Calling herself La idealista, Alejandra Jacinto promises to "lower the rental price" if she is victorious at the polls.

The promise. One of the main housing measures proposed by Podemos-IU-AV is the creation of a public real estate company, which would offer incentives and advantages to landlords who rent out their houses through this body.

For example, they would have an exemption from paying the IBI, they could receive help to undertake reforms in their homes and they would have the guarantee of receiving the rent payment on the first day of each month. In exchange, the owners would have to rent their houses for a "regulated" price, thus providing "security for both landlords and tenants."

The data. Access to housing, especially complicated for young people, due to the high rental price and the difficulties in obtaining a mortgage loan, is one of the main problems reflected in the surveys and one of the main issues of the electoral campaign.

The difficulty of accessing a home also affects those who are looking for a room to live for a while, especially in large cities. Sharing a flat is 10% more expensive than a year ago in Spain, where the average price amounts to 383 euros, but the outlay in large capitals is much higher, reaching more than 500 euros in Barcelona, the city with the highest prices , followed by Madrid (499 euros).

Another block dispute. In the Madrid campaign, PP and Vox have agreed on their commitment to free up land and increase supply, while the left (Más Madrid, PSOE and Podemos-IU-AV) has advocated a greater role for the public sector to lower prices.
