Kevin Spacey cries after being acquitted

The actor of the United States Kevin Spacey was yesterday declared "not guilty" of nine sexual crimes against four men allegedly committed between 2001 and 2013 in various places in England. Three other initial charges were dropped, according to BBC News.

After 12 hours and 26 minutes of deliberation, the jury at Southwark Crown Court delivered its verdict, which Spacey, present in the courtroom, received with tears in his eyes on his 64th birthday. The charges he was acquitted of include sexual assault, causing a person to have sexual intercourse without consent and causing a person to have sexual intercourse with penetration. The Oscar winner has always denied the facts. Spacey admitted during the trial that he is a "great seducer", but he denied that he had attacked "violently" the people who accused him.

During the four-week trial, prosecutors told jurors that the actor had aggressively groped three of the men while working at the Old Vic theater in London. And that a fourth witness accused Spacey of performing oral sex on her while she had passed out in the artist's London apartment.

In one of the first sessions of the trial, the prosecution lawyer, Christine Agnew, described him as a "sex prick" who assaulted men and became aroused when his unwanted advances provoked anger, as reported by the Reuters agency. Patrick Gibbs, Spacey's defense lawyer, had warned the jury at the beginning of the trial that during the process they would hear "some truths, some half-truths, deliberate exaggerations and a lot of damned lies" about his client.
