"In my career I have never been held back by the fear of what they will say"

Danae Boronat is the new presenter of Zona franca (TV3) since two weeks ago, after the controversy that punished the program with the dismissal of one of its collaborators and the subsequent departure of the presenter, Joel Díaz. The 38-year-old journalist from Tarragona, who was the first woman to narrate a LaLiga match, claims her versatility, defines herself as a woman who likes challenges and invites the viewer to get to know her more carefree side that , until now, she was unknown publicly, but yes in her personal life.

From the outside it seems that accepting to present Zona franca was a bit like poisoned candy. What made you accept the proposal?

Undoubtedly, the possibility of growing professionally and taking on a new challenge, because it involves doing something you have never done before. For me, it's about personal growth and testing myself to see if I'm capable of changing the record. Although I come from football, which is also entertainment! I don't hide that for me it's a major challenge and that it means what my life has always been: challenging myself and proving that I can do more things than I've done so far.

Were you surprised that they thought of you to drive a late night?

It was a very big surprise when I got the call, really. I thought that if they called me to do a test I couldn't say no, because they saw something in me, although I thought they would be the ones to tell me that I didn't fit in. It was clear that I wouldn't be the one to limit myself or the one to tell myself that I couldn't do it.

It wasn't like that and they kept his profile. Did you think about it a lot before giving the definitive yes, also taking into account the context of the departure of the previous presenter?

Doubts? One minute! Basically because she caught me off guard. I'm not very interested in talking about what happened, if I accepted the challenge it's because I like it and I think I can do it. I am a very positive person and I always think that things will turn out well. Things in my career have always come without looking for them, and they have always been for the better because they have allowed me to continue to progress and grow as a professional. There is nothing worse than saying no out of fear of what they will say. I have never been afraid of what they will say, otherwise, I would never have narrated football matches, I would have presented programs with only men or I would have done everything I could have done in such a male world. Doubts disappear when what they propose motivates you, excites you and makes you smile.

How does it look after the first two weeks of the program?

I'm very happy. From what I've been told, what I like the most is that you can tell that I'm having a good time with the program. I'm having a great time! It's a space where I can interview, where they let me sing and dance, I'm on a set with four women who play live music who are artists, with people who come to do humor, which is one of the most difficult things there ha, a set with an audience where I feel at home. I'm very happy.

When his name came out, there were not a few who said he didn't have the profile of a late night...

When you are in front of a camera there are personalities that are not seen, it depends on the record of the program. Until now Danae may have been seen as more formal and serious, but people who know me know that I am a fun aunt, very open, who really likes pranks, the show and is very much a clown. I'm not ashamed of anything and I'm always on stage at karaokes. When I was little I made music, I played the piano, I have danced modern jazz all my life. I'm the karaoke queen! ( River). As a child I always said I wanted to be a singer and in the end I was more oriented towards dancing. In short, that with this program it is me, there is nothing imposed or forced.

Sometimes he has to defend jokes he didn't write, how is communication with the team?

Very direct, I sit at the table with them in the newsroom and it's a joint job. I wouldn't make a joke or take on a script I wasn't comfortable with. I have a brutal team, they are very good, and when it's time I make my changes, my contributions or my nuances.
