The Juvenile Court of Tarragona is investigating a new group sexual assault on a minor by boys who are also teenagers. The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested on Tuesday the four minors reported for assaulting a 13-year-old girl in a flat in Salou. Barely a week has passed since another rape of an 11-year-old girl took place in a shopping center in Badalona.
The police identified the four alleged assailants from Salou after the complaint filed by the victim's family. It was the girl's father and mother who decided to take the step and report abuse allegedly committed in October 2022 to the police station.
Why didn't the victim report the case earlier, which was reported yesterday by Diari de Tarragona, but which happened five months ago? The girl knew the four boys with whom she ended up in the flat of one of them. They had gone out partying together before. Three of them, 16 years old; a quarter under the age of 14, and therefore not imputable.
Once in the flat, under circumstances that are being investigated, the girl was the victim of sexual touches and harassment. The alleged attackers took advantage of the fact that she was alone. They left the house and he said nothing. He has remained silent until now. Her attackers' threats of reprisals if she told her parents or the police kept her under control.
It was these same threats, detected by the victim's father and mother on social media, that raised the alarm that something serious had happened to the girl. After detecting the coercion on social networks, they did not hesitate to go to the Mossos d'Esquadra.
After the arrest, the juvenile court opened an investigation into an alleged crime of sexual assault, as confirmed by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC). After listening to the version of the alleged aggressors and the victim, the court sent two of the four arrested to a closed detention center on Wednesday, as requested by the prosecutor. They will be deprived of their liberty for an initial period of six months.
These are two 16-year-old boys with criminal records, mostly for theft and theft. The history of one of them, who was already on probation for previous crimes, is particularly conflicting.
Another of the detainees, also 16 years old, has been released under supervision by the juvenile court. He is forbidden by court order to approach or communicate with the victim.
