Frankenstein in the land of Never Again

The perception is real. The truth, no." The sentence assailed me by chance the day after the elections. At the stroke of midnight, while the last talk shows were exhausting the analysis of 23-J, the best clue to understand the meaning of the ballot boxes awaited La 2. It was in a documentary about the Philippine dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos, El poder a l shadow

"The perception is real. The truth, no." That cynical phrase, which reveals the corrosive power of lies in unethical democracies, appeared as a coded message about what has happened recently in a country with a media image - fevered by decibels and polls - that it has tried to be modeled on the basis of perceptions, of fictions hostile to reality.

However, the reality has emerged from the polls. And when faced with the inevitable question of who won the election, I can only find one answer. These elections have been won by the real Spain, not the perceptions cooked on a slow and persistent fire - also based on irresponsible flare-ups - in what Enric Juliana calls the Madrid DF. In other words, the network of economic, financial, media and democratic power that is articulated in the Spanish capital and that has been moving away from the real country in an invisible process with a perfectly defined "political zero kilometer".

This reflection, which is above the conjuncture, should be incorporated into their doubts by all actors before the new tsunami of delegitimization to come. It would be wise to bring the ball down rather than kick it back into the despair zone. Spain has chosen Spain. A society that is more open than autarkic, more progressive than nostalgic, more diverse than homogeneous.

It is not known for sure "when Peru was fucked", but many are right by looking towards the Aznar at the beginning of the century. Now, in a burdensome way, they have insisted until they are tired of talking about squatters, squatters and Frankenstein governments. But the time for perceptions has passed and the truth appears: the real Spain, open and diverse, is the argument of this work. Spanish society already knew what it was voting for. I knew it perfectly. They had wanted to impose a totalitarian disjunctive: "Spain or Sánchez". A too significant part of the Spanish right had resurrected the old myth of that Spain of charanga and tambourine to create a tricky dilemma: either their Spain or the anti Spain. These days, in fact, persist when they talk about "preventing Spain's enemies from getting away with it". Enemies? Enemies of what? Whose enemies?

The truth, however, is that the can is already squeaking. Perceptions have dropped the fictitious veil that hid reality. And the truth appears, crystal clear: almost eight million socialist voters, three million people who have chosen the Sumar ballot, almost a million people who have voted for ERC, Junts and the CUP, more than 600,000 voters between Bildu and the PNB, more than 150,000 BNG voters, 165,000 votes for the Pacma animalists, a hundred thousand votes for the Canarian Coalition. It is what it is: of the almost twenty-five million voters, just eleven million have chosen the PP-Vox proposal. The rest of the electorate – many more than the exclusionary block – represent different ways of understanding life, diverse identities, views ready to understand each other.

This is the important thing about 23-J: real Spain has won and the involution has been lost. The masks have fallen after 28-M and society has been clear: it does not want sexist denialisms or censorship of culture. He has seen what has happened - specifically, in the Valencian Community -, he has become aware and reacted to ask for dialogue, pacts, understanding. This has been ratified at the polls. For this reason, insisting that the result leads to a Frankenstein Government is equivalent to saying that we live in a Frankenstein country, that we are a Frankenstein society, when what is really monstrous is wanting to uniform us.
