First and only photo of the wolf that approached Barcelona

Healthy and well fed. This is the appearance of the wolf photographed on the night of March 31, 2022 in a forest area of ​​the Serralada de Marina park, in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. The snapshot – previously unpublished – was taken by an automatic camera (photographic device) installed by technicians from this protected area of ​​the Barcelona Provincial Council who study wild fauna. They did not expect the presence of a specimen of this species (Canis lupus, possibly of the italicus subspecies) in an area so close to Barcelona, ​​surrounded by buildings, industries, motorways, roads, rivers lined with concrete and railway lines . It is an adult specimen, probably a male, in more than sufficient physical condition to make long journeys in search of food.
