Congress will debate the lack of accessibility of the Mataró Renfe station

The parliamentary group Sumar-En Comú Podem denounces in Congress the accessibility problems of the Mataró station (Maresme). Deputy Félix Alonso asks the Ministry of Transport to solve the problems suffered by users with functional diversity at the Renfe station and denounces that their rights are being violated

On October 28, Mataró celebrated the 175th anniversary of the first Barcelona Mataró train. The commemoration of the anniversary was attended by various authorities who arrived by train from Barcelona. At the reception at the Mataró station, apart from the local authorities and many people from Mataró, a good representation of members of the Divermataró association also awaited them with a banner that said "175 years of inaccessibility."

This association has been defending the rights of people with functional diversity for years, especially with regard to accessibility. On this occasion, from Divermataró, they conveyed to the authorities present at the event the serious accessibility problem suffered by the Mataró train station when, repeatedly, the elevator that allows RENFE users to change tracks stops to function.

In this sense, the deputy Félix Alonso (Sumar–En Comú Podem), who was present at the event and met to listen to Divermataró's demands, has transferred to the table of the Congress of Deputies a request to the State Government so that From the Ministry of Transport and ADIF, the accessibility problems of the Mataró station, as well as other stations that may have similar problems, are solved.

As reported in the document presented at the Congress table by Congressman Fèlix Alonso, “this situation represents, for people with functional diversity who use public transport, a true hell of discomfort and loss of time, as well as the effects on their personal autonomy and a violation of their rights.”
