A 'Magazine' with a renewed focus

The Sunday newspaper continues to be, in these times of information acceleration, the most special of the week: so that readers can enjoy the best journalism, more reports, the best firms and interviews with the characters who mark the current affairs La Vanguardia's Sunday offer is completed with the historic Magazine supplement and the economical Diners. The Magazine has been reinventing itself over time and some readers have written to me asking about the current format.

The reader Luis Horacio Sáenz points out that "the current supplement has an excellent invoice, without a doubt", but then adds that "it seems more aimed at the admiration of design, art and graphics professionals than at daily readers ". And, after wondering if the Magazine seeks to "make us dream and take us to a world of luxury watches, impossible interiors, expensive cosmetics, unattainable trips and unassuming Parisian fashion", he explains that he misses "more information , culture, reflection, entertainment, chronicle and opinion" to "go deeper into its contents during the rest of the week".

Subscriber Isidre Costa, for his part, pointed out a few weeks ago that he also misses long-term "collaborations and reports" in the Sunday supplement.

Joana Bonet, director of the Magazine for the past three months, points out that the current model focuses on "lifestyle trends, art and premium consumption, a publication about style, as have other important titles such as The New York Times and Le Monde". Bonet assures that "art is universal heritage, just like good taste, nature and travel". And he adds that "fashion and beauty are areas that we want to take care of because they represent part of the essence of our country. Spain exports more perfumes than wine or oil. And instead it is not known, because they are often considered frivolous universes. But the jobs and the interest they arouse have shown that they are not. The newspaper is full of pages with opinion, analysis, information and chronicles. The Magazine aims to be a visual island for the senses, where we also interview characters from the world of culture and visit museums and artisan workshops. We are working on new chronicle and opinion sections, which I hope our kind readers will be interested in."
