What are the most searched university degrees on Google?

In recent years, the Spanish education sector has undergone major changes, largely caused by technological advances. In this sense, the technological revolution has brought with it the creation of new university degrees and master's degrees that respond to the demand for new positions in the market.

This is demonstrated by the latest Report on the education sector in Spain presented by Estudio34 - Good Rebels, an investigation that analyzes the visibility, positioning and experience of the online user and is based on online popularity data and Google search volumes.

”A university website is full of relevant content and important information for future students, but if it is not well positioned in search engines it will not be found. In other words, having a good SEO strategy is decisive for universities if they want to increase the number of potential students interested in their educational offer”, explains Ugo Smith, co-founder of Estudio34 and CTO at Good Rebels.

The report, through the analysis of search data and positioning in Google, has presented the ranking of the universities with the greatest online visibility.

The ranking is led by the Complutense University of Madrid by far (39.95%). Specifically, the Complutense University is more than twice as popular as the La Rioja University (17.09%), which occupies the second position. This is followed, with 14% each, by the University of Seville, Granada and Valencia.

Although the data indicates that the most popular are public, the 'top 5' of private universities with the greatest visibility are led by the University of Navarra (24.87%), followed by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (23.17%), the La Rioja International (21.29%), the Pontificia Comillas (21.20%) and the European University of the Canary Islands (9.46%).

The university degree most sought after by web users is Computer Engineering, with 34.57%. It is followed by other engineering fields, which also have a large search volume: electrical (20.97%), industrial (18.41%) and mechanical (15.03%). In the last position of the ranking we find the degree in physical activity and sport sciences (11.01%).

Regarding the master's degrees, the most searched for by users is Business Administration and Management, with more than half of the total of these first five with 50.06% of the searches. This is followed by far, Psychology (19.98%), Teacher Training (12.89%), Digital Marketing (10.38%) and Big Data (6.70%).

The Estudio34 - Good Rebels study also reveals that with the rise of new technologies and digital needs, the studies that have gained the most popularity in recent years are Data Engineering, Big Data and Cybersecurity.

Among these courses, we highlight the IEBS Postgraduate in Big Data, divided into four learning modules: introduction to Big Data, the ETL process from data to information, customer analytics and marketing.

There is also the Higher Course in Cybersecurity taught by Inesem Business School. With this six-month training you can develop as a security professional in different environments, taking into account issues such as regulations, protocols and tools.

Finally, another option is the Master in Big Data and Business Analytics, from IMF Smart Education. Through this training, you acquire a global vision of Big Data technologies and their use, as well as applied and practical training in analytical techniques for business.
