Vilassar de Mar denounces 23 people for fraudulent use of disabled cards

The Local Police of Vilassar de Mar (Maresme), since October 2022, has denounced a total of 23 people for misuse or fraudulent use of parking cards for people with reduced mobility.

In October, the Local Police launched a campaign to prevent the fraudulent use of these cards and in these months the most common offense that has been detected has been the use of the card by a person who was not legitimated. There are also complaints for making copies of the card for unauthorized private use. The sanctions corresponding to this type of infraction may entail administrative responsibilities with economic fines and, in more serious cases, criminal responsibilities.

The reduced mobility cards (TMR) are processed by the municipalities when the applicant holder provides a favorable report (issued by the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat) where it is expressly stated that he exceeds the scale of reduced mobility required to grant it.

The card, for personal and non-transferable use, authorizes the owner or authorized person to park the vehicle in some areas where other drivers cannot do so: specifically, in spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility and, furthermore, in other spaces such as blue zones, loading and unloading areas and pedestrian islands (as long as the parking lot does not cause inconvenience or danger to other users).

It is considered fraudulent use of the parking card for people with reduced mobility to use it in the absence of the holder; using a card with manipulated data or a reproduction or falsification of the original document and reproducing or falsifying cards intended for marketing.
