Using technology in the classroom in innovative ways

Technology has become a fundamental tool for education and more and more schools and universities are adopting new technologies to improve the learning of their students.

In this sense, incorporating technological tools in the educational methodology favors the participation of the students and the understanding of the contents. Additionally, it helps teachers personalize learning for each individual student.

This is the case of the Salesians SarriàSanta Dorotea school, a concerted center in Barcelona that has some 640 students and 45 teachers divided into Infant, Primary and Secondary Education. Among the elements that define its educational model, innovation is included through the implementation of ICT (Information and Education Technologies) and active work methodologies.

During the 2018-2019 academic year, the center received advice to modernize its information technology. As a result, in 2nd ESO a fleet of Acer Chromebook devices was deployed to replace the tablets that were used before. Subsequently, this model was applied one by one in ESO and the upper cycle of Primary Education, also having individual carts in which to load and store the devices.

Acer Chromebook devices stand out because they are very quick to set up and offer great flexibility of use in the classroom, as well as being resistant and having a sustainable design. On the other hand, they promote collaborative work thanks to the use of applications such as Google Workspace for Education.

Computer technology has become a basic tool to prepare students and encourage efficiency, creativity and initiative. At the same time, it enhances their ability to adapt to new environments and future challenges.

The students of this center have received this innovation positively. This is how the student Miquel Ayala explains it: “It is a very easy way to learn, very creative, and it can also help the most timid children to express themselves through their constructions”.

FDOS Software's advice allowed the center to modernize its technology efficiently and effectively, improving the experience of students and teachers. The introduction of Acer Chromebook devices in the classroom has meant a significant improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of educational work, which has had an impact on better student performance.
