Three boats with 158 migrants are rescued in the waters of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote

Maritime Rescue has rescued this Monday 158 migrants aboard three small boats in waters close to the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

The notice of the discovery came yesterday afternoon from three boats that came from Africa. The first was found around 8:55 p.m. thanks to a merchant ship, some 64.82 kilometers east of Fuerteventura. The Guardamar Calliope was able to go there and rescued 62 people of sub-Saharan origin, specifically 55 men, six women and one minor, who were transferred to the Puerto del Rosario dock a few hours later.

Five minutes after reporting the first boat, an echo from SIVE warned of another boat some 22.2 kilometers from Gran Tarajal, in Fuerteventura. 56 people (37 men, 14 women and five minors) were rescued by the Mizar salvamar and transferred to the Puerto del Rosario.

The health facility at the Puerto del Rosario pier has been in charge of caring for the migrants, who are in good condition. As reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center of 112 of the Canary Islands, only one woman has had to be transferred to the hospital.

The third boat was rescued by the guardamara Polylimnia during the early hours of this Tuesday when it was about 33.3 kilometers from Arrecife (Lanzarote). 40 people have been evacuated (24 North Africans and 16 sub-Saharan Africans), who were transferred to the La Cebolla pier in Arrecife and arrived around 05:00.
