They try the hitman who disfigured a minor by spraying him with sulfuric acid

On May 3, 2019, Kamal M., then 17 years old, left the institute for the home where he lived with his family in Caspe, a town in Zaragoza with almost 10,000 inhabitants. It was a normal day for the minor, who dreamed of being a Civil Guard and had already signed up for a gym to prepare. But when he was about to arrive, a stranger treacherously assaulted him in a dead-end area and sprayed his head with sulfuric acid, causing serious burns whose consequences he still has.

Almost four years after the event, the Zaragoza Court is preparing to try next week both the perpetrator of the assassination attempt and the rest of the people investigated for these events. Ahead, four days of the process in which the Prosecutor's Office requests sentences that add up to 60 years in prison minus 15 days.

The main defendant is Aitor G. G. (41 years old), a habitual criminal with 15 criminal records behind him who would have been paid 500 euros for throwing the corrosive product at the victim. Registered at the time in the Zaragoza municipal shelter, the suspect was arrested a month after the attack and brought to justice.

Sara G. C. (30 years old) will also sit on the defendant's bench, indicated as the alleged ideologue of the cruel trap together with her uncle José G. C., alias El Recortao. According to Civil Guard investigations, this woman never accepted that her husband, Yahya M., abandoned her and decided to rebuild her life in Germany.

After putting land in the way, the suspects even went to the German country to try to locate Yahya, but they were unsuccessful. Upon her return, they decided to avenge the alleged affront by planning an ambush against the family of her husband who had 'fled' from her. The chosen one was the little brother of his ex-partner, Kamal, who since then has suffered serious physical consequences - a disfigured face, a stiff neck - and psychological ones.

Among those involved is another woman, Teresa P.L., who took care of the mother of El Recortao. On the day of the attack, this woman sent a message to her daughter, who went to the same high school as Kamal, asking for him to make sure she was at the school.

Likewise, Teresa P. L. initially assisted the attacker, who was also injured when spraying the acid, and hid him in a house. In his escape from Caspe, a fifth person intervened, Raúl C. G., who acted as the hit man's driver so that he quickly left the Zaragoza town. Another man, identified as Iván M.F., will also be tried for his involvement in the events.

According to the Heraldo de Aragón newspaper, it has not yet emerged whether Kamal will have to be present next week in the hearing room of the Provincial Court or will be able to appear by videoconference. In any case, the interrogation will be a hard drink for a kid who has already expressed his desire to turn the page on previous occasions.
