The fall of an object lights up the night sky of Spain

Shortly before midnight this Saturday, the sky in various parts of Spain lit up by surprise. In places like Madrid, Guadalajara, Segovia or Murcia, a luminous object, divided into several pieces, could be observed flying over the darkness.

Several users on social networks witnessed what happened. As is understandable, they wondered what that was and speculated about the possibility that what was seen was a meteorite, a comet or a UFO, among other options.

According to Frontera Espacial, a media outlet specializing in the space sector today, what crossed the Spanish sky on Saturday night is space debris. Specifically, the remains of the USA-321 satellite.

"It is not a meteorite, it is a satellite, launched on January 13, 2022, which has completely disintegrated in the atmosphere," they have reported via Twitter. They specify that the launch is part of the "SpaceX Transporter-3" mission and stress that the unusual phenomenon "does not pose a danger" to the population.
