The DNA in the body of Helena Jubany is not the first to be investigated for the murder

The DNA that was found in the body of Helena Jubany does not belong to Santi L., the first person investigated for the murder in 2001. This was confirmed in a ruling on Thursday by the Court of First Instance 2 of Sabadell (Barcelona), which instructs the cause, after receiving the results of the National Institute of Toxicology.

It is still pending to make a comparison between the DNA of the investigated and the remains that were found in Jubany's sweater.

The judge reopened the investigation against Santi L. in February and ordered DNA samples to be taken to compare them with those found on Jubany's body, which also did not match the most recent investigator, X.J.

Santi L. was the main person investigated in the first case for the murder of Jubany, which was archived in 2005 without being resolved and which this court reopened in 2020 after receiving new evidence from the family.

In a statement, the Jubany family has stated that it is not surprised by the negative result of the analysis that has compared the remains found in the victim's body and the DNA of Santi L.

The relatives have criticized "the negligence of the National Institute of Toxicology, which has only made one of the two comparisons that the judge had entrusted to it": the one already made of the remains in the body and the one that is still pending of the remains in the Jubany's clothes.
