Prison for the man who assaulted children in Les Corts to kiss and touch them

A judge on duty in Barcelona ordered this Thursday the entry into prison of the man, a 30-year-old French homeless man, who in recent days assaulted several minors in the streets of Les Corts. The individual pounced on them regardless of whether the children were alone or accompanied. He tried to kiss them, touch them and even made the gesture of taking them with him. A situation that spread like wildfire in the district, with the images of the suspect shared in groups of parents from schools, communities and neighborhood associations that literally collapsed the police station phones and 112 reporting sightings of the individual.

In recent days the man was arrested twice. The first was released after going to court and finally this Thursday, the prosecutor requested imprisonment and the magistrate endorsed the proposal. The Les Corts investigation unit has been working all week on a matter that had the residents of the district particularly concerned.

The man behaves and acts like someone with a mental illness, although in his case there is no diagnosis in this regard. For this reason, the mossos were especially interested in having a psychiatric forensic inspect the detainee and that the man ended up admitted to a psychiatric center for observation. There was a risk that he would be released again, and that he would return to wander around Les Corts.

In recent days, researchers have carried out a reconstruction of the last movements of the individual in Barcelona. It is not known when he was able to arrive in Spain, but there is evidence in the city at the end of last year, because he was denounced several times by citizen security patrols for exhibitionism. He has been moving practically throughout the city, generating incidents but always with older people. But in recent days his modus operandi has changed and his victims that he randomly chose and scared were fewer. At the moment, the man is in prison, and the residents of Les Corts are calmer.
