The guard court in Falset (Tarragona) has issued a provisional arrest warrant for the driver of a car that fatally hit a cyclist in Cornudella de Montsant (Tarragona), in the Priorat region, last Friday.
The driver of the tourism detained by the Mossos d'Esquadra after the fatal attack is accused of the crimes of reckless homicide, omission of the duty of relief and driving under the influence of alcohol, for which the judge has issued a provisional detention order, communicated and without bail.
As reported last Friday by the Servei Català de Tránsit, the accident took place a little before half past four in the afternoon at kilometer 44.4 of the C-242 highway, as it passes through the municipality of Cornudella de Montsant.
The cyclist was run over by a car whose driver fled the scene of the accident without helping the victim, but was later located and arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra.
Five patrols from the Mossos, a crew from the Generalitat Fire Brigade and an ambulance and a helicopter from the Emergency Medical System (SEM) traveled to the area of the accident.
