A five-year-old girl was found dead this Tuesday in a garbage bag in the town of Rambervillers (Vosges), news that has caused great consternation in this small town of only 5,000 inhabitants.
The parents, a Romanian family living in the village, had reported their daughter missing in the early afternoon, the town's mayor Jean-Pierre Michel told AFP.
The police have opened an investigation and have already arrested the main suspect. This is a 16-year-old teenager who was arrested the same Tuesday after he called the police to report that he had found the body of a girl in a bag.
According to the mayor of Rambervillers, the young man was recorded by the authorities with facts related to "sexual abuse of minors". According to Le Républicain Lorrain, the young man suffers from psychiatric disorders and was discharged "a few weeks ago" from a specialized institution.
"The municipal police officers intervened first, they were the ones who discovered the body, and then the emergency services arrived, they tried to give a cardiac massage, but there was nothing to do, it was unfortunately too late," he said.
The victim's naked body was found, according to the local media, in a garbage bag in an apartment located on rue du Parmoulin, a hundred meters from his house, on rue du Cheval Blanc.
