A 28-year-old girl died last Saturday after losing control of her jet ski and crashing into the rocks of a breakwater in the Anfi del Mar area of the Gran Canaria municipality of Mogán, as reported by 112.
The motorcycle was thrown, without braking and "without control," according to the newspaper La Provincia. The victim, a resident of the municipality, practically reached the shore after the collision. It was the bathers who alerted them to the presence of a seriously injured young woman on the beach.
The woman died due to the magnitude of the injuries she suffered, described as very serious, as detailed in a statement from 112, the regional Emergency and Security Coordinating Center.
Although members of the Canary Islands Emergency Service were sent to the area, the injuries "precluded the recovery of the victim, who was rescued in a situation of cardiorespiratory arrest that could not be reversed despite the fact that cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers were performed." .
The event occurred after three in the afternoon last Saturday, when the young woman lost control of the jet ski, possibly as a result of the speed at which she was traveling and her lack of knowledge of how to handle the vehicle, according to the local newspaper.
The case is now in the hands of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard, which will be in charge of carrying out the investigation and clarifying the reasons for the fatal accident.
