Women monopolize the GAC gallery awards

The photographer Colita, as the best consolidated artist for her exhibition Dona situació límit at the RocíoSantaCruz gallery; Daniela Ortiz as the best emerging artist for Rebelión de las raíces in Àngels Barcelona, ​​and the art critic Marga Perera for her work in magazines such as Arteinformado and Tendencies of the art market, have been awarded the GAC prizes awarded annually by gallery owners catalans.

La Nit del Galerisme, held this Tuesday with a party in the Macba atrium, has also paid tribute to the artist Eulàlia Grau (Terrassa, 1946) and the gallery owner Pepa Quintero (Reus, 1963), director of Anquin's Galeria d'Art , who is fifty years old this year. In this new edition, in which women have monopolized a large part of the leading role, the committee chaired by Benito Padilla has incorporated a third prize of an honorary nature for the cultural manager and market analyst Llucià Homs, for his work promoting the sector through of initiatives such as the Talking Galleries platform.

The jury chaired by the art critic Pilar Parcerisas, and which also included the critic Juan Bufill from La Vanguardia, the curator Natalia Chocarro, the curator Àlex Mitrani and the artist Gino Rubert, has also recognized a good number of initiatives that have arisen outside Barcelona. Thus, the prize for curating has gone to Jorge Satorre, for the exhibition by Alberto Peral Redonda redonda at the Center d'Art Tecla sala de l'Hospitalet, and the Galeria Cadaqués has won the best historical exhibition for the exhibition Ulysses 100 Richard Hamilton in Bloom, in which the pop pioneer interprets the work of James Joyce.

For its part, the GAC to the media has gone to El temps de les Arts, which covers the entire Catalan-speaking area, and the collecting to Jordi Gimferrer, who a few months ago donated to his hometown, Banyoles, a vast collection of art, which includes works by leading figures such as Picasso, Dalí, Miró, Goya and Rembrandt, which will be exhibited in the center of Can Terradas.

Finally, the Artur Ramon gallery has won the award for best program for the set of exhibitions held throughout the year (Jordi Ortiz, Susana Solano, Leopold Samsó or Dominica Sánchez) and the award for best mid-career artist goes to Toni Giró, for Revelations 2013-2019, in the gallery El Quadern roba.
