What documentation must be taken when entering a nursing home

Admission to a nursing home can be a choice or a necessity. Since, in a large part of the cases, the elderly people who enter these centers do so due to the special needs they present and which require the attention of specialized personnel. Over the years, little by little a loss of independence is produced, something that makes it difficult or even prevents the performance of daily tasks and activities. In many of these cases, the best alternative is to enter a nursing home.

The application process entails a whole series of procedures that must be followed by respecting the established indications, which may vary slightly depending on the type of residence in question. As well as what is stipulated according to each community. However, in the case of public nursing homes, specific documents must be presented to be able to enter one of them.

Access to nursing homes is currently an arduous task, since the demand for places is greater than the available supply. Once the request for a prior appointment has been made, either by the elderly person's own hand or by a relative, we will have to wait for the visit of the social worker. This must go to the home to assess the degree of dependency of the applicant for the position. Before said meeting, a series of documents must be prepared.

The first of these is the DNI of the elderly person who aspires to access the nursing home, in addition to their health card and a photocopy of their registration certificate. As well as a completed and signed copy of the dependency valuation request. All this must be provided to the worker assigned by Social Services on the day they come for the assessment visit.

Next, we will have to wait to receive the evaluation and resolution of the dependency by letter. The next step will be to make a new appointment with the social worker to which you will have to go with the letter received.

In the first place, in order to apply for admission to a public nursing home, taking into account the variations that may occur according to the communities as already mentioned, four requirements must be met.
