Valle-Inclán, Gómez de la Serna and Casablanca at the Poliorama theater

Pedro Casablanc is an all-round actor, capable of playing Ramón Gómez de la Serna explaining the biography of Ramón María del Valle-Inclán and even singing some songs from the time, accompanied on the piano by Mario Molina. All of this will be seen at the Poliorama theater, with dramaturgy and direction by Xavier Albertí, after 70 performances on tour.

“The show is based on a biography that Gómez de la Serna writes about his admired Valle-Inclán – says the protagonist –, in which I represent one speaking about the other, explaining his life, giving his opinion on his work. I play Gómez de la Serna, but in that musical conference the figure of Valle-Inclán emerges.”

“The two gave many conferences, Valle-Inclán especially abroad. He earned good money and they say he was poor, but in reality he was a spender. Gómez de la Serna also gave lectures, with his characteristic humor, on one occasion riding an elephant,” he continues.

“I think Valle-Inclán is quite unknown, and not only by the young generations. He was very rebellious and confronted authority, which is why he was detained several times. He even confronted the dictator of the time, Primo de Rivera.” Thus, as Pedro Casablanc declares, the show Don Ramón María del Valle-Inclán through Ramón Gómez de la Serna is a very good opportunity to get closer to these two characters from Spanish history and culture.
