Duke has been the latest addition to the WAG Brigade at the San Francisco airport (USA), a peculiar unit made up of dogs, cats and other animals, whose objective is to calm the nerves of the most skittish travelers. Those who are terrified of getting on a plane, but who have no choice but to do so if they want to get around.
Duke Ellington Morris is a friendly 14-year-old cat. And he has already gotten down to work, according to the photograph posted on Twitter by the airport. In that snapshot, we can see the kitty dressed in his official collar and a small pilot's cap.
Duke was discovered starving in a San Francisco feral cat colony. After a brief stint at SF Animal Care and Control, the kitty soon stood out for his human skills. A special cat, they say.
Since then, the animal has been involved in numerous therapies, helping humans of all ages deal with stress, illness, hardship, and putting smiles on their faces when they need it most.
He is the first cat to be part of the San Francisco Airport WAG Squad. Working with him are 17 dogs, a rabbit and a pig named LiLou, who greets any passenger who needs to calm their nerves before boarding a plane.
