They withdraw these snowy donuts from the market and ask allergy sufferers not to eat them

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety (AESAN) has just launched an alert notification in relation to some aniseed donuts from Levadura Madre Natural Bakery because they contain milk proteins without declaring them on the label. The body warns allergy sufferers not to consume them.

Specifically, the affected product is the Natural Bakery Mother Yeast Anise Snow Donut, in 220 gr containers. The food alert affects all batches.

The AESAN has learned of this information through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange. The notice has been sent to other autonomous communities to stop the marketing of the affected lots.

According to the available data, the initial distribution has been made in the Autonomous Community of Madrid and in the Valencian Community, but it is not ruled out that there may be redistributions to other autonomous communities.

As a precautionary measure, AESAN recommends that people allergic to milk proteins who may have the aforementioned product in their homes refrain from consuming it. However, remember that these donuts do not pose a danger to the rest of the population.

Cow's milk proteins can cause serious allergies. Ingesting a small amount of milk protein can cause anaphylaxis, a life-threatening reaction that causes the airways to narrow, blocking breathing. Milk is the third most common food, after peanuts and tree nuts, to cause anaphylaxis.
