The surprising trick to correct excess salt in stews and stews

The level of salt in cooking is a matter of utmost importance, as it can enhance or completely ruin the flavor of the dish. If you try your recipe and it lacks salt, remedying it is as simple as adding more. But what happens when you've already gone too far and there is excess salt? If this has happened to you while preparing a stew, stew or soup, good news: there is a solution.

To correct excess salt in a stew, broth, soup or stew, you can resort to a trick that is sweeping social networks for being as surprising and simple as it is effective. The person in charge of revealing this secret to us has been chef Jose el Cook, who shared a video on his TikTok profile revealing 15 things you should know if you really like to cook. The publication exceeds 28 million views and accumulates 3.7 million likes, and it is not surprising. Take good note of his master classes.

“If you make a soup or stew and it turns out to be very salty, simply add a peeled potato and it will get rid of the salt,” explains the cook. That simple, that easy. The peeled raw potato will absorb excess salt as if it were magic. If one is not enough, add two.

Afterwards, you have to remove the potato from processing. You can wash them and use them for other recipes where their salty flavor is not a problem, such as French fries.

Among the 15 tricks that star in the video, we find some especially useful ones. Like the process to cut several cherry tomatoes in half at once. Place them between two lids of a container that are the same size and, using light pressure so that they do not move, run the knife between the two lids.

To prevent brown sugar from compacting into a hard stone, store it in an airtight container, as contact with air is responsible for this effect. On the other hand, when cracking an egg, do not do it against the edge of a container. Instead, tap it against a smooth surface like the kitchen counter or cutting board. This way, you prevent shell splinters from getting into the egg.

Finally, to check if your baking powder is in good condition, pour a small amount into a glass container and add water. If it makes a fizzing sound, you know it's in good condition.
