The RAC105 gala elevates The Tyets between reggaeton and sardana

Sardana and electronics, pop and reggaeton, in short, The Tyets rose last night as protagonists of the RAC105 awards gala. The duo from Maresme won the awards for best artist and best song for Coti x Coti at an event that also presented awards to artists such as Stay Homas, Oques Grasses, Rosalía and Els Amics de les Arts.

The Paral·lel 62 room was last night the scene of the cozy awards ceremony, which in its third edition brought together more than 700 people, including many artists and the main representatives of the sector in Catalonia, in an act led by Ernest Codina and Mònica Usart that started with the performance of the Stay Homas interpreting La nòria. It was the first of the performances, the other protagonists of a night in which Owls, Nil Moliner, who performed solo with the guitar, Gertrudis, Edu Esteve, Miki Núñez, Vicco, Triquell and Joan Dausà, who performed Judit, a continuation of the story begun in Jo mai mai ten years ago, a career that was remembered with a video of the best moments of the artist from Sant Feliu de Llobregat.

The gala also found time to commemorate the dissolution of the Manels with a humorous piece by Albert Bermúdez, and was rounded off by The Tyets, who performed Coti x Coti, bringing a generally calm audience to its feet. Although the surprise guest of the night was Josmar, who appeared (in pants) claiming an award for his music to the cheers of the audience, rewarded with a performance of the mythical És superfort, which this year celebrates his 25th anniversary.

Between song and song came the prizes, with Electricitat, by Alfred García and Miki Núñez, as best collaboration, which Alfred dedicated to his mother for her birthday. The prize for best video clip went to Els Amics de les Arts with that story of a love difficult to forget that leads the number Citant Mercè Rodoreda, theme of the new album Allà on volia. "Long live rac105 and long live music in Catalan on the radio" they shouted upon receiving the trophy.

Next, the Stay Homas returned to the stage to collect the award for the most broadcasted song on RAC105 for Here2Play, a cheerful mix of Spanish, English and Catalan that was played up to 1,476 times on the music channel.

Oques Grasses, well-deserved winners of the best live performance award in a year in which the Osona band celebrates a decade on stage with a tour that ended by filling the Palau Sant Jordi (they had sold out seven months before the date), a milestone for reach of very few, especially among the formations that have Catalan as their own language. This is the case of Triquell, son of the euphoric factory who last night was awarded as best new artist, a prize that he collected accompanied by his project colleagues, because "behind this character there is a group of people". Sant Jordi is still too big for him, but the Barcelona artist has demonstrated his talent with the publication of Entre fluids, his first album, with a taste for mixing and miscegenation of themes such as Jugular or CBD i espardenyes, a theme that he later performed.

Due to its quality, novelty and worldwide echo, no one was surprised that the award for best album went to Rosalía's Motomami, the experimental album mixing pop and reggaeton that has confirmed the singer from Sant Esteve Sesrovires (the only who did not attend to collect the award) in the Olympus of music with themes such as Despechá, La fama or Motomami herself, already converted into a generational anthem.

Two prizes remained, those for best artist and best song, both for The Tyets, or what amounts to the same thing, Oriol de Ramon and Xavier Coca, who have revolutionized the Catalan music scene with pieces like Coti x Coti, chosen for best song, a A song that has broken the mold by combining reggaeton and sardana, a reflection of this new generation that last night emerged the winner, as a whole, of this night of Catalan music.
