The owner of a dog that bit a cyclist is fined 5,000 euros

The Administrative Litigation Court of Logroño has confirmed a fine of 5,001 euros imposed on a man for the bite of one of his dogs on a cyclist, a sentence that ratifies the resolution of the General Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock of November 25, 2022 for an administrative violation regarding animal protection.

The magistrate refuses to suspend the man's fine, as requested by the defense, considering that the facts constitute a very serious infraction under regional legislation.

This regulation punishes not preventing the escape of animals when it causes harm to people and/or other animals.

According to the ruling, the facts are proven in the proceedings and have been recognized in the document of claim itself "and it is irrelevant whether the fall of the affected cyclist was due to a bite or the imbalance caused."

Aside from this sentence, the facts will also be judged by criminal means in which previous proceedings are already being processed by the Court of Instruction 2 of Logroño for an alleged crime of serious injuries.
