The friends of the arts and Suu star in Terramar with a Catalan accent

Six seasons of the Jardins de Terramar festival have already gone by, the musical event that has managed to gain a foothold in the increasingly crowded festival calendar using two weapons: an idyllic space near the sea in Sitges. Inaugurated in 1919, the gardens have hosted a musical proposal since 2017 that, for example, last year brought together 26,350 people.

The new edition of Terramar kicked off last night with a double performance by Suu and Els Amics de les Arts, a commitment to Catalan music well received by an audience over 40 for the most part and coming from the province that generously filled the venue.

Suu's happy and summery beats opened fire at 10 p.m. in front of an audience eager to applaud and few to get up while the songs by the young Barcelona singer played, who recently released the single Postal barata, critical of the summer posture of social networks, which contrasts with real moments like the one experienced last night in Sitges. Accompanied by a quartet of musicians (drums, bass, guitar and keyboards), Suu, who sang indistinctly in Catalan and Spanish, starred in a brief but intense concert, nine ethereal pop songs in 45 minutes full of energy that began with Boom and reviewed their latest album with eighties connotations, Karaoke, from which the tune of the same name was played, Nota de voz and Tu a Menorca i jo a l'Escala, without forgetting the version of Enamorado de la moda juvenil de Radio Futura or Algo de mí, de The sticker. Themes that were mixed with those of previous works, such as the hits Tant de bo (with the pa-pará chanted by the public) and You're a great song, with which she closed the appointment.

Around 11 pm it was the turn of Els amics de les arts, who brought the new songs from Allà on volia under their arms. The sixth studio album by the trio made up of Joan Enric Barceló, Dani Alegret and Ferran Piqué continues on the path of close stories, on the surface, taken to their current life, around forty and with children, disappointments and satisfaction for the journey made. The album includes new hits such as Citant Mercè Rodoreda, a lovesick narrated based on fragments by the writer. This theme was played last night along with other songs from the new album such as the homonymous Allà on volia, with which they began the performance among the public's clapping, or the festive nostalgia of La nit sembla que serà nostra. In a quintet format, with the support of drums and bass, the three friends reviewed their career with the support and applause of a large and noisy group of fans who transmitted to the stands the poetic spirit of songs like Monsieur Cousteau or Juliol 1994 . While Joan Enric encouraged the people gathered on the sides of the stands to dance, Ferran asked for a fan to combat the humidity prevailing last night, all while songs such as Les coses, Kokoschka or the celebrated Louisiana or Camps de Cotó followed one another. It was followed by the endearing and costumbrista L'home que treballava fent de gos and the aforementioned Mercè Rodoreda , linking a string of increasingly lively songs such as the loving-footballer metaphor of 4-3-3 , El seu gran hit (where it is now steals from men) and La nit sembla que serà nostra, in a more accelerated version than normal. The encores included a medley of various classic songs, performed with the trio sitting on stools, Joan Enric's only guitar and the surprise appearance of Suu, with whom they sang Tant de bo and Eres un teramazo, as well as Armengol and L'Arquitecte . “No patiu que tocarem Jean-Luc” they said, and that's how it was, getting the entire audience to their feet with the official anthem of a band that only knows how to sing positively.
