The best croissant in Spain is again in Roda de Ter (Barcelona)

It is not the first time that pastry chef Gil Prat, from Prat Can Carriel in Roda de Ter (Barcelona), manages to win the "Best artisan butter croissant in Spain" contest. He already did it in 2017 and has done it again in the 2023 edition, which was held this morning at the Escola de Pastisseria del Gremi in Barcelona.

As explained by the jury, made up of pastry chefs Antonio Bachour, Antoni Bellart (president of the Gremi), Toni Vera (winner of the 2022 edition), chef Martina Puigvert and the actor and great lover of pastry Paco Mir, in the sixteenth edition of the contest there has been a very high level, in addition to around sixty people registered.

The Prat Pastry Shop "Can Carriel" was founded in 1990 by Prat's great-grandfather. Today, it makes classic and modern pastries, pastries, pastas, nougats, jams, etc. Croissants and panellets are some of its star products.

The winning croissant has been chosen taking into account different criteria, such as taste, honeycombing, flaking, color, format and finish.

Among the winning pastry shops in previous editions are Canal (2022); Panem (2021); Brunells (2020); Channel (2019); Sant Croi by Albert Roca (2018); Prat “Can Carriel” (2017); Vallflorida Xocolaters (2016), etc.
