The AESAN warns about the presence of mustard in these popular soups from Alcampo

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition, better known by its acronym AESAN, has warned of the presence of mustard not declared on the label in a soup packet. As indicated by the agency, it is an ingredient that is not included in the labeling.

The agency dependent on the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has been in charge of reporting on the affected product. This is the garden soup from the Auchan brand, which is sold in the format of 2 sachets of 80g.

The alert affects batch 0810D3 with a best-before date of 04-2025. The incident, which was detected by the health authorities of the Community of Madrid, has already been transferred to the rest of the communities, so that it can be verified that the product has been withdrawn from the market.

In order to protect consumers, the Agency has made it clear that people with an allergy to mustard should not consume this product. For the rest of the population, eating this soup does not entail risks.

Currently, the law requires that allergens be highlighted in the list of ingredients of a product so that they are easily identifiable to consumers. However, sometimes contaminations, errors in handling or packaging occur that cause a certain product to contain an undeclared allergen.

The possible symptoms of a food allergy can be very varied and combined: from hives or swelling of the lips, to sneezing, nasal itching, respiratory difficulty... or vomiting, diarrhea and nausea. Its severity also varies, but in extreme cases it can be fatal.
