The musical vitality of Els Prats de Rei was once again reflected on Friday night in this Barcelona municipality of just over 500 registered residents. Artists from all over the world played on different stages, on balconies, in the streets, next to the church and in the Plaza Major for 150 people.
The architect of the initiative is Friederike Darius, flutist and artistic producer of the Metropole Orkest of the Netherlands, with a house in Els Prats de Rei, a town with renowned neighbors, such as the American Michael League, leader of the band Snarky Puppy, who has won four Grammy awards; the Portuguese singer Sofia Ribeiro or Juan Andrés Ospina, Colombian pianist and producer.
The public was divided into two groups of 75 people who toured the town starting at 8:30 p.m. to follow six concerts, each lasting 15 minutes, which culminated in the Plaza Major with the joint interpretation of País petit by Lluís Llach.
Numerous well-known artists of different styles participated in the event: Lucy Woodward from New York and Magda Giannikou from Greece, both linked to Snarky Puppy; the Dutch Robert Jan Vermeulen and Marjan Linnenbank, also with a house in Els Prats de Rei; the German Jo Krause; Isabel Gallego Grau and Guillem Castellà, residents of this vibrant town, or Maria Martinez Iturriaga and Malena Marcase. The trombonist and guitarist Louk Boudesteijn, from the Netherlands, the pianist David van der Grinten, the singer Antonia van der Grinten, as well as the aforementioned Friederike Darius, flutist, and Sofia Ribeiro, who performed with Juan Andrés Ospina, his father, Luis Alberto, and his sister, Silvia, completed a fruitful musical night.
