Magic returns to Badalona with the XIV Li-Chang Memorial International Magic Festival

Magic returns to Badalona with the XIV Li-Chang Memorial International Magic Festival

Today the program of the 24th edition of the Badalona International Magic Festival-Memorial Li-Chang was presented at the Zorrilla Theater in Badalona (Barcelonès Nord), full of surprising proposals by magicians, both local and international artists, who They will challenge the limits of reality. In addition, the Festival opens to the city with complementary activities to libraries and civic centers.

The Festival will start next Sunday, February 11 at the Margarida Xirgu Theater with Lumière, a show by Txema Muñoz that will transport spectators to a train station where they will live an unforgettable time full of magic and humor. On Saturday, February 17, it will continue with Magic and Humor, a show directed by Enric Magoo that becomes a meeting of magicians who combine various performances of music, humor and very special magic games. The Argentine artist Christian Miró, the Zaragozaan Pepín Banzo and the Jaenese Mario López will offer their most surprising and unique tricks.

On February 23, 24 and 25, at the Zorrilla Theater, the XXIV Li-Chang Memorial International Magic Gala will be held, presented by Got Talent semi-finalist Adrián Carratalá accompanied by Katerina Muzychuk, in which renowned artists will perform who will present their internationally successful shows. Among the proposals, a theatrical magic show from Moscow stands out, led by Elena Gordeeva and Vadim Gordeev, which will take viewers into the world of inventions. Poetry this year will come from South Korea with a performance by Young-Min Kim who will present a mystical and visual spectacle that has made him winner of the World Magic Prize (FISM), among other recognitions.

The Gala will also feature national talent; From Málaga Javi Cruz and Anahí will take the stage with appearances and disappearances, illusions, and escapism. And, arriving from the capital, the Madrid mentalist couple Javier Luxor and Irene Jové will demonstrate their telepathic powers in an unforgettable show. The Frenchman Gerald Le Guilloux will close the Gala poster with a show that will leave everyone glued to their seats!

On February 23, during the International Gala, honorable mention will also be made to a personality or company from the world of magic in recognition of their artistic career and/or professional career. On February 25, the Li-Chang Award will be presented to the magician who performs at the magic galas and obtains the greatest recognition from the attending public.

The closing of the Festival will take place on March 3, one more year at the Blas Infante theater, with the Magic Solidarity Gala that will feature the young artists Pol Pavo (Li-Chang Young Award 2024), the youngest of only fifteen years old Marcos, the Girona illusionist Guillem Sanyes, Naikari “La Maga” and Albert Vidal, a specialist in proximity magic.

The programming of the 24th edition of the Badalona International Festival of Magic is completed with a set of activities that will take place in different parts of the city such as the Encuentro de Magos de Catalunya in the Magic Mall, the Lumière show in school format in the Theater Margarida Xirgu, the Solidarity Magic Workshop at the Can Banús reception center or the performance Journey to the Quimbambes at the Saltamartí bookstore.

In addition, the festival program will host training activities such as Literature and Magic, led by Álvaro Cortés, as well as a new edition of the Magic and Illusionism Course for teachers that, linked to the Zone Training Plan and organized by the Cultural Services and Education of the Badalona City Council and by the CRP of the Generalitat of Catalonia, will begin on February 6 and will take place over six face-to-face sessions until March 12. Enric Magoo, promoter and teacher of this course since its first edition, together with Maty Gálvez, will teach participants how magic can be a very useful pedagogical instrument. On the other hand, between February 5 and 28, small shows and workshops will also be held in libraries and civic centers in the city.

At the presentation of the Festival programme, it was revealed that the honorable mention of the Li-Chang Memorial, in recognition of his career, goes to Eligio Romero, known by the stage name "Magic Trébol".
