Jazzman Marco Mezquida debuts as a symphonic composer with 'Talaiot'

What does Marco Mezquida's first Concerto for piano and orchestra sound like? The answer will be given by the Menorcan musician at the Palau de la Música Catalana this Saturday afternoon (6:30 p.m.), as part of the cycle of the Vallès Symphony. With Talaiot, a number that refers to the prehistoric stone structures that survive in Menorcan and Majorcan territory, the island jazzman debuts in symphonic composition with music that he himself describes as "romantic, impressionistic, Iberian, minimalist and with touches of jazz" .

Marco Mezquida (Menorca, 1987), a born improviser, a ubiquitous musician who is at all saraos, be they popular music or the so-called cultured music, will sit down at the piano to account for his technical ability as well as his creativity as a composer. . As well as that charisma and artistic aura that makes the public easily connect with him and his work.

The concert program is completed by works by American female composers of the 20th century: Candide Overture and West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein's musical, and Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Lady.
