Arriving at the door of the house and realizing that you have left the keys in the car, forgetting to pay a municipal tax or skipping the video call that you have every Wednesday are mistakes that can happen to everyone. The problem is when these distractions become the usual dynamic to the point that your relatives or your co-workers associate the distraction with a trait of your personality. But can you stop being clueless?

Clueless people find it difficult to stay focused on new or daily tasks, they tend to lose their personal belongings and it is difficult for them to retain the anecdotes they have discussed with their friends or what they have dreamed of the night before. In the medium term, this characteristic can cause problems in their social life or even in the workplace, if they are not able to cope with domestic affairs or the routine workload. A clueless person can have serious difficulties when it comes to coping with a multitasking job or the mere fast pace of life that we have today. Becoming aware of your responsibilities in family, social and work life is the first step in trying to change this attitude. Avoid blaming others for your oversights and use the tools available to fulfill all your tasks.

Although it may seem like a truism, trying to pay attention to what is happening around you will help you process and retain information about the needs that others delegate to you. Try to remember what was explained in the class or the previous meeting before starting work or leaving home to focus on your goals and not do things by inertia.

An important part of the mistakes are due to poor planning. Identify what things you have to do and for what and how much time you have. This will help you discern between what is urgent and what can wait. Also try to assign a time to each task. Tools like Trello or ClickUp will help you to be proactive in terms of your work tasks.

Having a personal agenda in which to write by hand all your commitments will allow you to remember them better. You will better identify your plans and goals in a list on paper. Of course, remember to cross out everything that you are getting rid of so as not to doubt if you have done it or not.

In the office, the post-its on the table or the computer screen will prevent you from missing your pending appointments. If this were not enough, you can set an alarm or a notice in the mobile calendar to remember the most important issues.

Find a quiet space in your home where, as an office, you can work and put your pending things in order. The filing cabinets and dividers will allow you to easily access your invoices, procedures or paperwork in general about the house, the car, medical prescriptions, etc. in a single place. Designate a specific place in the same way, it can be a drawer or a basket, in which to store your personal belongings such as keys, wallet or mobile charger to always locate them the first time.

If, even following the above advice, you make a mistake again, reflect reasonably on what has been the reason that has led you to forget a commitment. This way you will become aware of your failures and you will ensure that it does not happen to you so often.

Additionally, intersperse work moments with moments for leisure and rest, such as a short walk to clear your mind. Practicing exercises such as yoga or meditation on a regular basis will also allow you to reduce your stress and fatigue levels.
