A neighbor of Montcada i Reixac would have left two dogs and five cats left alone at home to die of hunger and thirst. The woman, who was a volunteer for a local animal organization, is accused of animal abuse with aggravated death.
As the FAADA association has denounced, the alert was given on February 27 by the woman's ex-partner, who assured that she had left the apartment for months and had left the animals inside.
The neighbors also assured that they had not seen the woman or anyone to take care of the animals for months, and weeks later they reported a strong smell of decomposition coming from the cabin.
Once the notice was received, the local police officers and the Mossos d'Esquadra managed to enter the apartment, and found it completely dark and with excrement scattered everywhere.
During the inspection, they found the two dogs in a state of decomposition and the remains of three cats, which would have served as food for the dogs.
There was no trace of the rest of the animals. Now, the investigating court is investigating the woman for an alleged crime of animal abuse with aggravated death.
